Characteristics of titanium tube

Characteristics of titanium tube

1. Wall thickness of titanium pipe

The wall thickness of the heat transfer tube is determined by the service conditions, tube sheet materials, the construction capacity of pipe expansion, and the welding technology of the pipe end. Because the diameter of the heat transfer tube is small and the strength requirements are not high, the tubes with thinner wall thickness are used in actual use. Generally, the wall thickness of copper alloy tubes is 0.9mm-1.2mm; Titanium pipe shall be used instead. Thin wall welded pipe with wall thickness of 0.3mm can be used in places with low corrosivity.

2. Thermal conductivity of titanium tube

Due to the different materials of heat transfer tubes, the thermal conductivity is also different. For example, titanium is 17W/(m · k), aluminum brass is lOOW/(m · k), and 70/30 white copper is 29W/(m · k). Therefore, the heat transfer effect of heat transfer tubes can be controlled by changing the wall thickness. Among the above materials, titanium has the lowest thermal conductivity. If thin-walled titanium welded pipe is used, although the thermal conductivity is worse than aluminum brass, it is equivalent to 90/10 white copper and better than 70/30 white copper.

3. Economy of titanium tube

The unit mass price of titanium tube is 2-6 times higher than that of copper alloy tube, but from the perspective of cost performance, the price of titanium tube can compete with that of copper alloy tube. Because of the low density of titanium and the same wall thickness, the mass of titanium tube with the same length is only 50% of that of copper alloy tube. When the wall thickness of titanium tube is 50% of that of copper alloy tube, the mass of titanium tube with the same heat transfer area is only 1 / 4 of that of copper alloy tube. At the current price level, The overall price of thin-walled titanium welded pipe is the same as that of aluminum copper pipe, which is cheaper than that of white copper pipe. It can be seen that titanium tubes are competitive in terms of price.
